Should Indicted War Criminals Be Tried in Absentia? Yes…

More and more people indicted for war crimes in the Yugoslav wars are being brought to trial at the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia in The Hague. Yet those accused of the most serious crimes are still at large, and governments are making little effort to turn them in. Would trying those indictees in absentia finally produce justice? Or would such proceedings be mere show trials?
