Just a few days ago on September the 20th, the people of Latvia went to the poles in a referendum and gave a resounding “yes” for joining the European Union in May of next year. This was the tenth country in a row of ten to make such a choice and of these, eight are post-communist countries that have recovered their sovereignty, and in our case, our independence, after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
